The Bitter End located on 147 Bleecker Street (between Thompson and LaGuardia) in lower manhattan is a great place to go to see live bands. Its an old rock club thats been around since 1961 and has featured many legends. All these legends launched their careers in front of The Bitter End's famous brick wall. I think its an excellent place to go to hear new and refreshing music.

Hey I just went to the Bitter End for the first time it was a cool low key place. The prices are fair and the crowd was cool. Was really drunk so I guess I had a good time.
