Default Giorgio Armani

Thought I would fill you in on Armani... I read an interesting article about the 71 year old CEO and his thoughts about the future of his business.

In exanding his business, Mr. Armani has created less exclusive spinoffs of his Armani label. introducing lines such as Armani Jeans for casual clothes and Armani Exchange for trendy urban wear. He has expanded the Armani brand into a range of product categories such as accessories, furnishings, restaurants, car interiors, choclates and, most recently hotels. Giorgio Armani SpA has become one of the worlds biggest fashion groups, with $152 million in profits on sales in 2004. The company reported the profits for 2005 this past week but the results have not been finalized.

His clothes are considered to be more conservative according to fashion critics but Armani is always willing to take the risk. He was one of the first designers to make an event of dressing Hollywood stars, paving the way for celebrity marketing.

What I really thought was interesting was his five tips on what a businessman should wear.....

Tip 1: Polyester is a fantastic fabric. It has characteristics of elasticity, fit and non-crease that are fantastic.
Tip 2: Linen is a disaster. You wear linen, you sit down, you get up and it looks like you've been run over by a truck.
Tip 3: Its a myth that men arent credible unless they're wearing pinstripes, an oxford shirt, a regimental tie and English shoes.
Tip 4: Men look good in shirts, ties, and jackets that show a few curves, but also give comfort. the look must not be sloppy, but neither stiff.
Tip 5: I cant accept men wearing sports jackets in a board meeting. Sports jackets are for weekends..

So for all you fancy business men out there working on wall street, here are five tips from Mr. Armani himself!
