Friday afternoon traffic Holand Tunnel - New York Forum | NYC Discussion Community

So I drove into Jersey this afternoon and I gotta say that the Holland Tunnel traffic on a Friday late afternoon is TERRIBLE! NEVER USE THIS TUNNEL ON A LATE FRIDAY! I sat on 7th ave for about 2 hours waiting to get into the tunnel as assholes from the left lanes kept cutting morons like me who waited forever to get down to the tunnel entrance. This seriously was the most frustrating drive of my life. What could possibly cause all this traffic, I would think in the summer people leave work earlier to head off for the weekend so I assume at 6pm traffic would be on the lighter side ... WOW was I ever wrong.

Was it because they were doing construction - I know that I get stuck in horrible traffic when they are either cleaning the tunnel or doing some sort of construction. They usually warn you when these things are going to happen but I always forget ...
