NJ Nets had interest in Shawn Marion
Quote:
Speaking of fooling around, we're told the Nets tried to get into the bidding for Marion early in the game, and it was not a sign-and-trade scenario, either. They found a way to clear the decks by moving three contracts that added up to about $6-7 million, and use that as a jumpoff for a deal that would be slightly higher than what Shawn's getting in Dallas (6.3, 7.0, 7.7, 8.4, 9.0 over five, with an opt-out for 2013). Not interested, he said.
We're not sure it made sense for the Nets, either, unless they were going to make their big splash right now. Shawn's already 31, he's not likely to be that 6-7 guy who plays like he's 6-10 for much longer, and how long will it be before he complains about getting only $7.8M per season in his last big contract?

Honestly why would the Nets clear that kind of room for a chump. I think Marion is a bum and I am thankful he turned the Nets down. A bum like him should be happy to play anywhere but I am thankful my favorite team didnt pick him up!
