Default Are car free Saturdays helping local stores and businesses?

The Summer Streets saturday events that starts at 7am and runs till 1pm stretches out over miles of roadway but will it hurt local business?

seems like the more pedestrian traffic = the more likely people will find their way into your store. Obviously, from there the higher potential of sales. Thats at least one way of viewing this whole Summer Streets event to make the city "greener."

i would think it depends on the business. out of towners that use a car service to get to where they want to go will not be happy about the closed streets, which in turn can hurt some business. other business will profit due to the heavy pedestrian traffic.
