I live on 40 Sherman Ave. I am Vice-President of the Tenant Association. Our building has 531 violations in which the landlord doesn't plan to fix. Also we have gone to court, the judge had given them a order in where they are not paying attention. They have been lying to the judge and treats us (Tenants) with no respect. We haven't had gas since March 24,2008 to present.
They have contracted some repairmen where they don't have license to correct the lead problem in the building. Our hot water is on and off.. somedays we have or somedays we don't.
We are tired off paying our rent and not receiving our maintence or adequate repairs for the building and apartments in 40 Sherman Ave.
This is why we are doing this rent strike and we will keep on striking until we satisfied with the work the landlord did to the building.
I have lived there for 14 years, I don't want to see my building deteriote because the landlord don't want to provide services to the tenants.
