Default New Yorks MTA to double subway fares

According to 2nd Ave. Sagas the MTA's fares are too low. Thats right you read correctly - too low??

I find that to be ridiculous! For one, and as I am sure most know (just off common sense alone) that most politicians are completely dirty. 2nd Ave. Saga believes they should double down the fare to 4 dollars instead of the 2 dollars that you pay now. I find that to be retarded. The Seoul subway is cheaper than New York’s for trips shorter than 35 kilometers. For trips under 20 kilometers, even the Tokyo Metro is cheaper.

Yet 2nd Ave. Saga says London increases the undergroung rail system prices and yet more people ride the train. Remember that London also has a congestion tax, which was not passed in New York. That is one reason more Brits use the underground.

If the MTA is $900 million in defict - well then how did it get that way in the first place. Instead of these dirty politicians pocketing most of the tax money, they should use that and that alone would probably cut the deficit in half.

Also, the bridge and tunnel prices increased not too long ago and so where does that money go? Funny thing is when I drive through the Lincoln and Holland tunnels now, I dont see as much traffic as I used to. Hence, based on that assumption alone if you increase the subway fare I dont believe people will use the subway as often either.
