Default Israeli-Lebanese Prisoner Swap

Quote:
Israel's cabinet has given final approval to a controversial new prisoner swap with Lebanon.

Representatives from the United Nations will oversee Wednesday's handover at a seaside border crossing, where officials will trade a Lebanese militant convicted on murder charges for two captured Israeli soldiers who are widely believed to be dead.

The swap represents some unfinished business from Israel's inconclusive war with Lebanon's militant Hezbollah group in the summer of 2006, which was sparked by the capture of the two soldiers included in the deal.

This prisoner exchange follows an emotionally charged debate in Israel, which has long vowed never to leave its soldiers behind in the battlefield.

But the price is painfully high. The Lebanese militant who will be freed is Samir Kuntar, who was convicted of bludgeoning a 4-year-old Israeli girl in 1979 after shooting her father and drowning him in the sea.

As U.S. News wrote about recently, there is a separate high-profile prisoner swap being discussed with the Palestinian militant group Hamas. But the hero's welcome that Kuntar is likely to receive when he returns to Lebanon is sure to incense many Israelis, particularly if the soldiers are indeed confirmed to have been killed.
I am fumed and ticked off that Israel would do this! How can you trade prisoners when the 2 that Israel are recieving are dead and in return you are giving back to Lebanon Samir Kuntar, who happened to kill a 4 year old girl and her father with NO REMORSE!!

I will only support this deal if Israel allows Samir Kuntar to walk towards the Lebanese border and an Israeli soldier gets to rip a bullet through his head!

This really shows how much Islam is a cesspool cult. No where else on earth would so-called leaders honor a murderer of a four year old except in a muslim area. I just don’t understand how anyone could ever claim that Islam promotes equality, moderation, tolerance and peace.

I must be missing something. Why on earth would you trade a couple bodies for all these prisoners who were convicted of some horrible crimes? It must be a religious thing because I'd tell them to keep the bodies because these low life's are staying in a cage. Then again not much in that region makes any sense whatsoever.

If Palestine put down their arms, there'd be no more war. If Israel put down their arms, there'd be no more Israel.

and yet somehow the liberal USA will still say Israel is a threat to the palestinians and that Israel still deprives them of freedom.

Israel has been soo patient when dealing with the scum of the earth ... i honestly just cant wait to see them bomb iran and lebanon into dust

well the issue at hand is that Iran sees the US process of democracy as a weakness. they have the iron hand and will use it.

The U.S cant forcefully attack Iran cause the UN and other nations expect the U.S to ALWAYS be civil. Hence, Iran will do what they want even when other nations warn them not to, because they are held to a lower standard.

In my opinion this will go on forever until the liberals and left wingers in this country realize that we need to match the violence that Iran has plagued upon us.
