A quick note here: roughly 75% (maybe less maybe more) of the Irish bars in America are not owned and managed by Irish they just use the Irish names.

The 11th Street Bar (East Village, between avenues A and B) is a good neighborhood pub, sometimes has performers doing Irish folk.
Not Irish, but a place called Drop Off Service has a good tap selection and a somewhat pub-ish feel. |

McSorley's is ok, but you better get there early. it's a big yuppie hang out after 10 on fri and sat nights. if you want real, down and dirty, irish bars...go to yonkers on mclean ave. ned devine's saloon is hardcore. rory dolans is the nicest of the bunch. in the city...finnegan's wake (72nd and either 1st or 2nd) is ok and o'flannagans (1st ave btw 66/67) is nice.

Don't know too much about Irish bars, but I know McSorley's is cool. Great beer and great atmosphere. Surprisingly good burgers too! They make one of the best burgers I've had in NYC.
