Default NJ Nets trade Richard Jefferson for Yi and Simmons!!!!

official from ESPN. This is a HUGE gamble on the Nets waiting for the 2010 season to begin! Why? Good questions ... thats because a player by the name of LeBron James becomes a free agent. And he and rapper Jay - Z are close friends. (Or so I hope so for the sake of Nets fans).

To get rid of one of your best all around players is insane. Jefferson was still in his prime at 28 years old. He averaged more then 22 points a game and was SOLID on defense. And as you saw from Boston winning the championship this year, DEFENSE IS KEY!

Currently, this is a horrible trade for the Nets. I do not know much about Yi, but I do not believe he will be as good or better then Richard Jefferson. Maybe I am wrong and Yi will shine in the NY metro market and he will feel more comfortable with a large asian population. Time will tell!

yea i disagree with this completely. trading RJ was a big mistake. I understand the whole "lets get LeBron James" when he becomes a free agent, but this means Vince Carter is going to get frustrated playing on a garbage team! I smell disaster for the Nets for the next 2 seasons.

Yao: “Yi Has Improved Tremendously”
July 22, 2008, 11:10 pm
In an interview with China Daily, Yao Ming says teammate “Yi Jianlian has has improved tremendously after playing one season in the NBA”. Yao said that while the team’s draw in the first round of the Olympics is “the worst I can ever imagine,” he continues to predict Team China can finish in the top six and think Germany will be their toughest competition, but Yi “can limit (Dirk) Nowitzki”.

turns out Yao may have been wrong about Yi ... he played a garbage game adding just 9 points against the US team.
