It depends on the problem players themselves. In the case of Pacman and Chris Henry absolutely not. Look I'm all for getting talent on this team but not these guys. Problem players need to prove that they are committed to football and football only. Which isn't the case with these two?

Remember Laveranues Coles was a problem player back at college. The Jets took a chance on him and now he is a very dependable, albeit declining WR for the jets. I think he showed he wanted to move on, get a chance, and show his stuff.

In the case of Pacman i repeat absolutely not. This guy has never listened to the Titans or Commissioner Goodell. He was warned many times repeatedly not to go to strip clubs. His antics have resulted in a man getting paralyzed and he still hasn't learned. He has more than 10 incidents on his "resume".

Same thing with Chris Henry. This guy has talent but he just cant stay out of trouble. With his latest arrest he now has twelve incidents involving gun charges, drugs, alcohol, fights, etc... I like giving guys chances but i think 12 chances is too many.

The point im trying to make is, these guys are talented, but they cant use their talent if they're off getting in trouble somewhere else. So no thanks.

Well, for starters, when we mention the names Adam "Pacman" Jones and Chris Henry, we mention guys who have had numerous off the field issues, and it is these issues that on the surface would be completely against the philosophies of both Eric Mangini and Mike Tannebaum, both of who are interested in high character players with good work ethics. So that would be strike number one against both guys.

I think each guy would however bring something to the table for the NY Jets. If we first look at Adam "Pacman" Jones, I could argue that if he became a member of the New York Jets, he would instantly become the 2nd best cornerback the NY Jets have behind Darrelle Revis. David Barrett has a big contract and has been hurt and inconsistent; Justin Miller is coming off season-ending surgery, so what are you going to get from him? And Drew Coleman and others aren't experienced enough to the point where Mangini would feel comfortable with them opposite Revis. He has already proven to be a solid, shut down corner, with 4 interception in his last active season with the Tennessee Titans, one of which he returned for a touchdown. So if you could get him for a 2nd day draft choice, I'd say you take that chance.

Plus, he still has two years left on a rookie contract, that is relatively reasonable in salary cap numbers.

However, if he is getting in all of this trouble now, what is he going to do in the "city that never sleeps," New York City?

As for Chris Henry, he was released, making him a free agent. I would put him in the same category as Bubba Franks and Tony Richardson, two free agents the Jets signed this off-season. If you are the Jets and are interested, you offer him a one year, incentive-laden contract. If he works out, then you work on possibly an extension, like Franks and Richardson.

But if he doesn't work out or gets into trouble again, you let him go and you aren't out anything because it is a one year deal. For that reason alone is why I like the Franks and Richardson deals-- If they work out, you try and bring them back possibly long term.

If they don't, you let them go after the year is up.

Yes, Chris Henry is a troublemaker no doubt, but at 6'4" tall, he would be the type of tall receiver in the red zone that the Jets so desperately need and have lacked. Look at how Eli Manning and Derek Anderson progressed with 6'5" Plaxico Burress and 6'3" Braylon Edwards this past season. And also consider how much of an influence Randy Moss, who is a tall receiver as well, had on Tom Brady!

Plus, Henry has 17 touchdowns in 3 seasons with the Bengals, 9 of which came two years ago. That isn't too bad considering the team has Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmanzadeh.

If I am the Jets, I do take the chance on these two "troubled" individuals. I think even despite their troubles, they fill HUGE needs for the New York Jets.
