Default NJ Devils M. Brodeur vs. NY Jets L. Coles

So from what I am familiar with both of these players have salaries of 5.5 Million. Now here comes the fun part. I am a fan of both teams and I started thinking about all the recent success and press M. Brodeur has been getting and rightfully SO!!!

Now given, I understand the NYC markets least favorite sport is Hockey but WHY? does L. Coles and his contract debacle get press coverage. I happen to be a Jets season ticket holder and this is driving me NUTS! I started thinking...IMAGINE if Lou Lamoriello was in charge of the NY Jets...he would never and i mean NEVER deal with the utter stupidity that LC is putting the Jets through.

Not that this even deserves comparison but LC and M. Broduer both earn 5.5 Million. When you compare the stats sheet, its CLEAR marty broduer is UNDER PAID, yet he plays for the team and the front of the jersey. Marty who will probably own every goaltending record in NHL history along with his 3 Stanley Cups (maybe more before he retires) is CONSISTENTLY in my opinion the BEST athelete in the nyc region IN ALL 4 MAJOR SPORTS! YES I SAID THE BEST ATHLETE in the tri-state region. Yet he gets no press coverage, which i dont understand. And the most depressing story in the ny sports region getting a lot of coverage is LC. I hope LC is traded ASAP!

And as you write this M. Brodeur - Giving the Devil his due in Sports Illustrated gets a nice and heartfelt write up.

I agree with you but Derek Jeter comes to mind as a great regional athlete who helped backstop the New York Yankees to quit a few World Series Titles. A-Rod is another good athlete but hasnt played long enough for the NY Yankees to enter this debate. Both those 2 have been very focused and consistent and OBVIOSLY Jeter beats out Brodeur in terms of salary BUT that is soley based on the fact that baseball is more popular.

i would go with marty broduer on this one. especially after recapping the '07 and '08 seasons! if marty were not on the devils there is no way the devils would be in the postseason

i agree he is the most important player to his team..

although against the rangers he looked shaky and let in a VERY weak goal in game 1 BUT if the devils can win wednesday night at tie the series at 2 a piece that will def be forgotten about ... especially if they go on to win the series
