This famous hidden gem on Houston Street is popular for their bagels. With a diverse fish selection, Russ and Daughters is an old jewish style bagel shop that carries tradition of famous selections of bagel sides. Located at 179 East Houston Street right near Katzs' Deli, i strongly recommend stopping by. If you can try to go during the week as the line is long and you have to pick a number and wait your turn. Also be prepared to spend the most you have ever spent on a bagel. I ordered 2 bagels for 15 bucks but it was worth every penny.

Check out the Russ and Daughters website. Here is what Zagat stated, "The Royal family of smoked fish presides over this cherished Lower East Side landmark for Jewish soul food, which is still keeping it real for fans of flawless lox, sable, herring and other classics that'll knock your socks off, including pastries (babka, halvah, rugalach) and hand -dipped chocolates; the gregarious staff will take time to educate you on the fabulous variety."
