The New York Rangers are 2-0 to start the season. Tonite they played division rivals, the Philly Fliers. It was a great game to watch all the way to the very end. The New YorK Rangers look really sharp. It was a 4-4 game going to overtime. In o.t the Fliers and Rangers went into the 14th ....yes the 14 round with BOTH goalies not allowing 1 goal. Martin Hossa of the New York Rangers was the only player to score in the shootout, ripping one through the 5 hole of the Philly Fliers goalie.

This past Monday the New york Rangers beat the new jersey devils 4 - 2. The new york rangers win was a bit of revenge for the playoff sweep the Devils gave the new york rangers last spring. Brendan Shanahan scored his 7th goal of the season and showed that he fits in really well with this new york rangers club.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Tomas Vokoun's slow start has quickly become a distant memory.
After allowing 13 goals in Nashville's opening two losses, the Predators goalie has roared back during an impressive three-game winning streak. His latest effort was a 38-save performance that produced his 17th NHL shutout and gave Nashville a 3-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Wednesday night. "My job is to stop the puck," said Vokoun, who has turned away 91 of the past 93 he's faced. "Goalie is your most important player. When he is not stopping the puck, it's tough to win." Well as Vokoun was turning away pucks he was punishing the new york rangers and handing them their 4th loss of the season. The new york rangers are now 3 and 4. |

Brendan Shanahan scored the only goal of the shootout and added his eighth goal of the season in regulation to lead the New York Rangers to a 5-4 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
Nigel Dawes, Michael Nylander and Jason Ward also scored for the Rangers, who avoided their fifth loss in six games. Mats Sundin, Alex Ponikarovsky and Darcy Tucker failed to score in the shootout before Shanahan beat goalie Andrew Raycroft with a wrist shot between the pads. Shanahan scored 40 goals for Detroit last season and is off to a fast start. The 19-year veteran entered the game leading the NHL in shots on goal and was tied for the most goals. The 37-year-old scored his 606th career goal. He tied it at 2 on the power play by banking the puck off Raycroft from the side of the net with 12 seconds left in the first. |

The new york Rangers lost to the flordida panthers last night 4-2. This was not a great way to leave the fans before the new york rangers begin their journey out west. Josef Stumpel scored twice as florida cruised past the new york rangers. The NY Rangers will play at Phoenix next. They then head to california to play LA, Anaheim, and San Jose. They need to come back to new york with some wins because the rival new york islanders have been heating up and are tied with the New York Rangers at 8 points a piece.

The Los Angelas Kings snapped a five-game losing streak by taking control in the first period. Defenseman Brent Sopel scored the first two goals of the game, and Sean Avery added a goal and an assist for the Kings in a 4-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Monday night.
"This is the way we have to play every night," Sopel said. "We have to play with hard work. This is the best league in the world, and if you don't work hard you're not going to get the wins. Lately we've been working hard and not getting the bounces -- but tonight we did." Brendan Shanahan scored for the Rangers, who were 0-for-9 on the power play in their first road loss to the Kings since March 9, 2000. "We don't have a single easy game this season, based on how we have chosen to play so far," New York Rangers coach Tom Renney said. "Not that any game is easy, but you can make life a lot easier on yourself if you would just check in with the commitment of playing hard, playing together and avoiding the penalty box. It'll kill you every time." Last edited by PaullyInNYC : 10-31-2006 at 05:17 PM. |

NEW YORK (AP) -- Jaromir Jagr plans to give the puck from his 600th NHL goal to his mother, and he hopes he can add to her collection soon.
Jagr got another milestone out of the way early in the first period, and Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves to help the New York Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 Sunday night. Jagr, Martin Straka and Michael Nylander each had a goal and two assists for New York, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Brendan Shanahan added a goal and an assist to extend his point streak to seven games. |

New York Rangers got back on track last night beating Tampa Bay 5-0. They also got goals from unlikely sources such as Orr, Avery, Hollweg and Hossa whom all had lit up the lamp.
Henrik Lundqvist’s had 29 saves all of which were well earned against an amazing tampa bay offense which has been hot as of late. He was great in net and apart from one shot that hit the pipe, shut down the entire Lightning offense. |
