Default NY Rangers vs. Ottawa

The ny rangers defeated the senators yesterday 5-2. The rangers are lucky to have caught them on a drought as ottawa is 3-5-2 in their last 10 games.

Shanahan scored two goals and the New York Rangers beat the Ottawa Senators 5-2 Saturday, handing the Eastern Conference champions their sixth straight loss.

With the win, the Rangers moved a game behind Ottawa for the conference lead.

"We came in here definitely catching a team down," said Shanahan. "And when a team is down you want to jump on them and you don't want to give them a chance to build confidence and build good things."

And thats exactly what the rangers did when daniel girardi scored the opening goal to make it 1-0 new york.

The Rangers and Senators had a rematch from 3 weeks ago and this time Ottawa took care of the new york rangers 3-1. Gomez scored the only ny rangers goal. But Ottawa was just too strong and was able to score a goal per period. Net minder Lundquist played a great game but the senators were just too strong scoring the second period game winning goal off a rebound shot right in front of Lundquist.

Al Trautwig just said it best. He saw a team work very hard and have some unlucky bounces.

Lets look at the positive. Hollweg was FLYING tonight. Excellent effort. Avery is back and back to his ways which is always good. No real bad plays other than some rookie mistakes by Staal (which you have to accept). They played hard, that is what I am happy for.

Now let them worry about the next game.
