So far the new york rangers and capitals are scoreless. Henry lundquist made a great save on Viktor Kozlov. Ovechkin is getting some good chances and seems to be outperforming the Gomez and Jagr line.

the rangers have like 4 or 5 shots on net while Washington has 10.

the new york rangers lead 1-0. A beautiful redirect from chris drury on Staals shot. It also gives Staal his first NHL point.

i dont see a point on espn yet but im pretty sure mark staal has an assist for his first nhl point.

The New York Rangers have come out strong in the second period and still hold a 1-0 lead.

The first period was actually not a great period for the NY Rangers. It was a great period though for Henrik Lundqvist. He is what kept the Rangers in it all night. Congrats to him on the 2-0 shutout as well. He deserved the first star of the game as the Washington Capitals were out shooting the Rangers a lot to a little. I couldnt even keep track.

The Rangers have 2 solid games in a row and maybe now they are starting to gel in terms of their new acquisitions. Chris Drury had the first goal and game winning goal in the second period as well as an assist. Scott Gomez the other big signing during free agency had an assist on the second goal.
