It seems to happen every day, a bar, a cafe, a mom-and-pop store linking New York to its past closes for the last time, usually swallowed up by rising rents. That

This subterranean pub was one of Manhattan's undiscovered treasures -- the quintessential neighborhood "snugger." It's easy to miss from the street and the regulars like it that way. The All State has great burgers and long line of history. The All State attracts a grown-up neighborhood crowd drawn in by the casual ambience and an outstanding jukebox. It was your typical everyday bar for the locals. Too bad its no longer around.

Its a shame this place had to close due to rising rent costs but no one should ever forget how friendly All Star Cafe was. I have been there a couple times. Its actually the first place i went to when I moved into New York City. Everyone was very friendly. I once went with a friend there and some locals made room for us at the bar so we could have some drinks and eat. I will def miss the warmth and comfort of that place. All Star Cafe was a great place to go and relax and get out of the apartment. I didnt care about what to wear or anything like that. Walking down those steps below street level and enjoying the fire place almost made it feel like home.
