The defensive team captain Jonathan Vilma was placed on Injured Reserve ending the New York Jets pro bowl linebackers 2007 season.

just to provide more detail he was injured last week against the Bengals and the extent of his knee injury is not fully known but that fact remains that putting him on injured reserve means he will need some type of surgery. There is also buzz that he may have played his final game as a New York Jet. He will become a free agent at the end of the 2008 season and if rookie LB dave Harris steps in nicely Vilma will probably be gone via trade.

well so far rookie dave harris has filled in GREAT for vilma and hence i would agree that vilma is probably done with the ny jets. The new york jets defense looks solid enough with out vilma so i wouldnt be surprised to see vilma go via trade.

well as i stated a couple months ago, jon vilma was traded to the new orleans saints for draft picks. I believe it was a conditional draft pick as well depending on Vilma's performance.
