Will the New York Jets make the playoffs? With two games left and an 8-6 record, they have a very good chance of clinching a wild card birth if they win the next 2.

Well after this past weekend the Jets control their own destiny. They dont have to rely on anyone after Jacksonville and Cincy both lost.

Also what a great Monday Night game. The weather condition in Miami were very wet, but the New York Jets played a smart football game and they made all the key plays when they had to. Chad Pennington didnt have any interceptions. It was a chess game through out and although the Jets had the only turnover on a silly play during a punt, the offense stepped up in the 4th quarter especially RB Leon Washington. Some really pretty moves got him 64 yards on a screen pass that led to the game winning field goal. One more win against a weak Oakland team will land the New York Jets a wild card birth into the playoffs. Should be exciting!!!

will the new york jets beat oakland this sunday??? who wants to voice their opinions .....

im gonna have to say i do think oakland (whose only won 2 games ) will upset the ny jets, just so oakland can say it accomplished something this season, even if it just knocking another team out of the playoffs.

i hope that you are VERY VERY wrong. I do not see the new york jets losing this game. They have been up and down all season and I believe they will come through at home against a much weaker team. How close the score may be I do not know and I would not bet on but the NY Jets will pull through just like they did last week against Miami.

Thank the good lord I was right about my prediction. Now the New York Jets will have to take on the New England Patriots. Does anyone have any predictions for this one??

My score is New York Jets 27 New Engl. 23. Manginious will pull through making this season an even more memorable with Mangini winning his first playoff game as a head coach.

Ok..... I WAS WRONG! New England def outsmarted the New York Jets and was very ready for ny's blitzing schemes. Tom Brady got rid of the ball quick and often and had good protection all day. The NY Jets will have to hold their heads up though cause they were not predicted to even be in the playoffs. I think they will have an outstanding season next year.

The NY Jets hired Dan Quinn as defensive-line coach and also extended the contract of his predecessor, Denny Marcin.

The Dolphins fired Quinn after the two sides could not agree on a new contract. The Orange, N.J., native spent four seasons in Miami and was Hofstra's defensive-line coach from 1996-2000.

Marcin, who began his coaching career in 1964 and came to the Jets in 2004 after seven seasons with the Giants, will be re-assigned to another defensive assistant role.

Currently, the only two openings coach Eric Mangini has to fill is assistant running backs coach, after Sam Gash was let go, and assistant wide receivers/tight ends coach, after Richie Anderson left for the Cardinals.

But Jets assistant defensive line coach Bryan Cox is rumored to be in line for a promotion elsewhere, which could create a spot for Marcin.

The NY JETS acquired RB Thomas Jones from the Chicago Bears. Thomas Jones has rushed for over 1200 yards the last 2 seasons. The new york jets gave up a second round draft pick for Jones, which is an excellent deal in my opinion and definitley makes the NY Jets a better team. They now have a 1-2 punch with Leon Washington who will definitley still make the big plays he was capable of making last year.

I wish what i said back in march of '07 was actually true. We have no punch at all. We had glimpse and hopes of some promise with Thomas Jones and every now and then Leon Washington. But our ground game stinks partially due to the fact that we have a crappy down field passing game!

City I completely agree. I really feel our down field passing attack needs to improve and then our running game will improve with that. I think other teams know that Chad Penningtons weakness is his arm strength especially after 2 rotator cuff surgeries. I have a feeling we (the NY Jets) have been figured out by pretty much every team in the NFL. We need to attack more down field and be aggressive, the problem though lies with the arm of Pennington.
