Default New Jersey Devils vs Penguins

Last nights game was quit entertaining!! The NJ Devils won 5-4 but the referees also sure added to the excitement. Even right off the face off I thought a fight was going to break out involving David Clarkson. The scoring started with Jay Pandolfo and then a couple minutes later it was John Madden with a laser of a shot to make it 2-0 Devils. After that the game got exciting when the Penguins went on to score the next three goals to take the lead. In the 2nd period Travis Zajac scored a power play goal to make it 3-3. It was a beautiful pass from Zach Parise right on the money to Zajac to pound that in.

After that the referees didnt stop blowing their whistles and the New Jersey Devils had (i believe) 6 consecutive power plays. During all this of course the Penguins had a 2-0 breakaway (which Malkin scored) but it was called a too many men on the ice penalty and instead gave the Devils another power play. Then Zajac scored his 2nd goal of the night when Brian Gionta was literally in the net with the Penguins goaltender. It looked to me like goalie interference on the Devils but when you looked at the replay the Devils forward was being pushed into the net and the puck came loose and Zajac pounded it back in there. This gave the Devils a 4-3 lead. Then finally the whistle blew the other way and gave the Penguins a chance on the power play which Malkin scored to tie the game again at 4-4.

Finally in the 3rd period arrived and the penalties were limited. Most of the 3rd was played on 5-5 hockey. But eventually after a beautiful pass from Elias and Parise to find Asham on the side of the net for an easy goal, the devils took the lead back 5-4 and it remained that way until the final buzzer. The Devils should have made it 6-4 when the net was wide open but (i forgot who) someone shanked the shot!
