Default Dinner/Dancing Type Restaurants

Any restaurants in the city that provide the 1930s/40s dinner/dancing/music?

I'm a terrible dancer, but I'd really like to go to one of those classy type of restaurants. Do they even exist anymore or only appeared in classic movies? Thanks!

I think they only appeared in classic movies...pple generally go out to dinner and then either to some bar or club to dance. But there is one place in the meatpacking district called Son Cubano on West 14th street that offers very good Cuban style food and then the salsa begins by mid night when the staff comes by to clear away tables. Thats a very good place!! highly recommended. Is it a date, Ron?

The Scene
The place has a 1950s feel with black-and-white photos, mosaic murals and ivory banquettes lining the walls, the attractive space evokes pre-Castro Havana. The live Latin music which i believe is six nights a week, a dark wooden bar long enough to lean on and mingle at, and group-friendly seating arrangements create a festive scene. Smaller tables toward the front and out on the sidewalk offer more intimate dining.

The problem is that this place was very trendy and upscale a couple years ago. I think now its lost its appeal and is no longer considered a "hot spot" but the food is definitley delicious and worth a try ONLY if you dont have to wait over an hour. If you do go somewhere else because the Tapas there are comparable to other places in the city as well.

I was looking at old pictures that my grandma had and it was just such pretty restaurants... it looked really romantic and fun. No date, but something to keep in mind that I'd like to do in the future.

Thank you.
