The new york islanders beat the new york rangers last night 2-1. The scoring for the islanders came from Marc-Andre Bergeron and Bryan Berard. Berard was a former new york islander 10 years ago when he was up for rookie of the year honors. He had the game winner last night. The new york rangers had excellent chances especially scott gomez on a gorgeous feed from jamir jagr. Gomez simply couldnt get control of the entire puck and once he did Islanders Goalie Rick Dipietro was there to shut gomez down. The New York Islanders are off to an excellent start, which is crucial in a division that is heavily favored for the ny rangers and penguins to win. If the Islanders can keep pace in this division they are bound for the playoffs.

Tonite the Rangers and Islanders face off in their final game of the '07-'08 season. The Islanders who are eliminated from the playoffs have the 1-0 lead BUT the NY Rangers are on the power play.
