So all those free newspapers that we all get from AM New York and Metro are causing serious issues in the subway stations. People take these free papers and when done with them tend to throw them where ever is most convenient (clearly the trash can is NOT). This has now caused fires in new york subway systems when friction from the trains and railways rides over a trashed newspaper. "Newspapers hawkers are supposed to stay off MTA property, but in their zealousness, they ignore the rules of engagement and descend onto the platforms, and worse, leave stacks inside stations, allowing the papers to drift off and into the drainage pipes." (NY Post) As for now the NYPD wont do anything about it because it does not cause any obstruction or have any regard on safety issues. I am waiting for the day a massive fire starts ...... dam idiots!!
