There is also Oren's, a local chain with excellent coffee at prices far lower than Starbucks. Far friendlier employees and generally better music too. The downside not too much seating being that its mainly for takeout.

I can see why this is one of the "hot" threads. Its kinda interesting to think about. Would starbucks take away business from the smaller (less known) local coffee shops. Starbucks is internationally renouned. They do have awsome coffee, but I can see the concern from the smaller less renouned coffee shops in manhattan. Hmmm.... gotta think about this one!

This is definitley the funniest thread. Reading it in its entirety is hilarious. Its like a bunch of drug dealers that need to score some dope! Seems like everyone that posted in this thread craves coffee. Im not too big into coffee and hence would never spend 5 bucks on a medium cup of coffee. Once and i mean once in a blue moon will i spend that kind of money on a coffee.
As for the financial side of Starbucks owning this coffee industry, what can you do....obviously smaller coffee shops lost out but I dont think they suffer dramatically. Then again Im not a coffee lover so what do i know! |
