NYU claims that they need to expand the campus (dorms & possible classroom space) over the next 25 years according to METRO. Locals in the Village area are pushing to preserve the environment there by not allowing NYU to push forward with anymore expansion. Check out the rest of this interesting story here but who knows what crazy things will happen over the next 25 years. I do believe the student body will expand so they University can keep with economical future concerns.

I dont think its so much of a financial issue although I cant be certain about that. And i dont see the big deal with student dorms in Brooklyn Heights. I am sure a lot of students are paying rent and living in that area anyways. I see no harm in opening up a dorm there. I mean its probably closer then the dorm NYU owns on Water street in the Financial District.
