What is everyone top 10 things to see (lets say a tourist asked you what are the top 10 things to see in Manhattan)? what would you say and in what order?

My top 10 would be:
10) a tour of Madison Square Garden
9) a ferry/boat ride around the island that is manhattan
8) a walk through central park
7) a day of shopping in SOHO
6) a walk in Times Square (at night of course)
5) Rockefellar Center
4) Metropolitan Museum of Art
3) a Broadway show
2) morning ferry ride to statue of liberty
1) The empire state building

Thats an interesting top 10 list you got. I would have to agree with all of it. The only thing I would add in there would be Chinatown.
Chinatown in New York City is the largest Chinatown in the US and its located in one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Manhattan. It was founded in the late 1870s and is a tightly-packed yet sprawling neighbourhood, which continues to grow rapidly. It is a main tourist attraction and the home of the majority of Chinese New Yorkers, many of whom never leave the environment. Chinatown offers visitors hundreds of restaurants, booming fruit and fish markets and shops of knickknacks on torturously winding and overcrowded streets.

Here is my top 10:

1. See a Broadway play.
2. Visit Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty
3. Eat a hot pretzel from a vendor.
4. Window shop.
5. Meet someone under the clock at the Roosevelt Hotel.
6. Stroll through Central Park.
7. View great art at the Metropolitan Museum.
8. Walk (run or bike) the Battery Park promenade.
9. Eat at an ethnic restaurant.
10. Have a beer on the 107th floor of the World Trade Center and look out at the lights over the Brooklyn Bridge and beyond.

LOL.... I actually really like the last one (10) the best. I have never had a beer on the 107th floor. Never even knew you could! Nice thanks for the idea.

Make sure to take a cab ride to wherever and carefully view how they drive... its similar to a ride at Disney World...

Another great place to go for tourists or locals who have never been is the Guggenheim museum. They always have different displays of artwork and this NY museum is most famous for its exterior. Frank Lloyd Wright's conical design literally put the museum on the map and made it one of New Yorks most distinguishable features on the architechtural landscape.

The interior is interesting being that on the inside the curvature spirals going up the museums walls allows for different angles to view art.

1071 Fifth Avenue at 89th street and is open from friday thorugh wednesday 10am to 5:45pm.(until 7:45 on friday) REMEMBER: its open UNTIL midnight on the first friday of every month!! $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and students, free for children under 12!

I'm all for the walk in Central Park. I think right at the Central Park Zoo is great. The zoo its self is perfect for anyone with kids, its very compact.
