I heard that all cabbies will have LCD screens by new years which is next week.

i dont think so. Im sure most of them will but not all of them. Depending on who owns the company or the taxi cab medallion will there be an LCD screen. In all honesty though, most new york city cab cars I've been in have had the LCD monitor.

And by the way how annoying is repetitive commercials.

this will sound embarassing but i dont understand what a medallion is?? Can anyone explain this to me and why its needed and the benefits of having one??

The medallion is a permit to drive a cab, and there is one assigned to each cab in the city. No cab can operate without this piece of metal as it is your permit to drive, hence thats why its needed.

There are benefits of owning a taxi or limo medallion because you can lease them out for a monthly rental charge. So owning a few medallions can make you some money. Check here to learn some more and get a better understanding of the new york city medallions
