According to RT, if the draft were held today, he would keep both 1st rounders (at least thats what he says). If this happens, we still have a lot of ammo left 4 off-season deals. I say we use our 10 million dollars in cap space (SS and KVH contracts) to make trades with teams that want to trim cap space:
1.) Acquire a PF/Center: Brand---will opt out of his contract this year, discussed heavily in other threads. Chris Wilcox---we've liked this guy for years. He's up for a contract extension in 2009 and Seattle doesn't want to pay him big dollars. AND 2.) Acquire a proven shooter or defensive minded shooter: Depending on what we do addressing our #1st need, we could go after: Mike Miller---we also wanted to deal for him last year, but with the gift the grizzlies gave away to LA, the management wanted to hold off on trades. Only problem is that he's a liability on D. Pietrus/Barnes/Pargo/K.Rush---one of these with part/all mid-level would be a great addition to our team. |

If we keep all 3 picks I think we will end up keeping RJ which is dumb. I think after the draft we should sign a shooter (Vujacic if he is still available) and save the cap room for Brooklyn.

Looks like the Dallas Mavericks will go hard after Center Diop according to the Dallas News. Diop has played his entire career in Dallas until last seasons trade for Jason Kidd.
I hope Diop stays a Net! |

I personally think this is Cuban's way of getting back at us for the Kidd deal by forcing our hand in a Diop sign and trade. I was hoping to see Diop on our bench next year...we'll see what happens.

Despite Richard Jefferson being traded, I thought the NJ Nets did an outstanding job in the draft!

well so far we traded away jefferson and marcus williams. bochi nachbar left for europe.
we did get keyon dooling, Yi, and Simmons. Sounds like the Nets may be an average team, they certainly wont be able to comete with the champion celtics but at least no one in the division will. |
