Default Bikes In Buildings Law

So New York City implemented a law that encourages people to bike to work. Just another silly law created by lousy politicians without thinking through what consequences this may have on 'other' commuters as well as building owners.

Building owners should request government money for the building renditions that would take place for extra bike storage. Think about building traffic especially in the main lobbies & elevators; now you will have people with the bicycles taking up more space especially if the bikes are to be stored on any level higher then the first floor. This is just a thoughtless and stupid idea to force the hand of building owners to spend more money so government can seek tax benefits.

Maybe the New York political heads should reduce subway and bus fares to allow people to actually commute without spending a high percentage of their salaries on transportation. But of course the MTA is in debt a couple hundred million dollars and whose fault is that?

These silly rules and wasted time by government is just getting absurd! For more about the bike in buildings law:

A new law meant to encourage people to bike to work takes effect today.

The Bikes in Buildings Law was signed over the summer and requires commercial office buildings to provide safe storage space for workers to keep their bikes.

Tenants in these buildings can file a formal request for bike space through the owner.

Owners wishing for an exception must file a request with the city. However, they must provide other safe parking spaces for cyclists.

The new law does not apply to residential buildings, commercial office buildings without a freight elevator, or other buildings not primarily composed of offices.

Why should government have to spend more money on something stupid like building renditions. The building tenants have plenty of money and there is no reason government should have to lend their hand again.

Plus this is better for the environment. If more New Yorker's commuted via bicycle maybe we could shut down some bus lines and clear the cities atmosphere of pollution.

Because this is their silly law that will just make things worse. All the pedestrian traffic is not enough, now we have to have pedestrian traffic with bikes. Totally ridiculous!
