This is also one of the only beaches that actually faces out to the Atlantic Ocean whereas all the others face off to a bay.
I personally have been a frequent visitor to Long Beach Island New Jersey (about 2 hours away from NYC) and I must say the beaches are gorgeous and depending on your day you can have amazing waves.

BTW I shouldn't have said frequent visitor, my folks own a home in Surf City and as a kid I loved boogie boarding there. There were days where the waves were absolutely lousy but then every now and then you'd get some nice ones. I remember getting to the beach at 9am and seeing some pretty big waves that had perfect barrels. As a kid I had absolutely no fear, I am sure today I would think twice before running into the Atlantic Ocean.
Watching that previous video though, I should get back into boogie boarding or try surfing.
