Default NY Islanders

Last night the NY Islanders faced off against the Boston Bruins losing in OT 4-3. Zdeno Chara who has the hardest shot in the NHL was the one that sealed the deal in the 7th round of the shoot out. He faked as if he was gonna take a hard slap shot and then snuck it 5 hole between Dipietros pads. The Islanders have 60 points and trail the 8th seed by 2 points. Tampa Bay is currently in the 8th seed and plays today against the NJ Devils.

Jason Blake, deal or no deal has mentioned that if he is not signed for a long term contract that he will test the free agent market and will most likely NOT be back....

yea this is piss poor timing while trying to make a run for the playoffs.... i think its because his performance has dropped (which is frustrating) a bit and wants his money asap before he knows he cant get more..... i do feel bad cause in some of the past games he has had excellent scoring chances but the post or a great save came between him and his stats.

The NY Islanders, locked in a tight race to make the Eastern Conference playoffs, added some offense Monday when they acquired winger Richard Zednik from the Washington Capitals for a second-round draft pick in 2007.

The NY Islanders currently have 70 points and are 1 point away from Carolina for the final playoff spot. The Islanders will take on Flyers tonite and need to beat the weakest team in the East to move into the playoff standings.

A lot has happened with the NY Islanders as of late. They acquired Ryan Smyth from Edmonton which was a big deal and looked like it was gonna make the Islanders a serious contender in the East. They also were looking forward to Alexi Yashin coming back from a knee injury. Turns out, a game against the Rangers, Chris Simon one of the Islanders big men who goes out and scores goals as well as deliver punishing hits, delivered the most evil hit of his career. He took a swinging hit with his hockey stick right to a Hollwegs face of the Rangers and was suspended 25 games which will play through the rest of the season as well as playoffs. Ever since then the Islanders have now lost 3 games in row and are currently out of the playoff race by a point. This team needs to get back on track and I believe they will because of all the quality players and veteran leadership this team has.

So what are the NY Islanders going to do this offseason. Will they be able to bring back both Ryan Smith and Jason Blake?
