Default Maritime Hotel

363 West 16th Street

I thought The Maritime was a really great hotel. I am so sick of chintzy B&Bs and horrid generic chain hotels; and this was such a refreshing break from all that. Aesthetically The Maritime is 5 out of 5... a lovely lobby, and the feel of the room was great. The rooms are small, but I like the ship's cabin feel (and they have an interesting minibar!). It took me a while to figure out the lighting, and there were no drawers in the room (but plenty of hanging space). The bed was a total delight: goose down pillows and a great mattress, gorgeous sheets. There is a free dvd services (they have a library of really great cinema at the front desk), and free internet in the business centre. I had room service the night I arrived (very late and very jetlagged), and the food was (surprisingly) good... simple and fresh and not at all like the food you normally get late in a hotel. And my experience in the Italian restuarant downstairs (where I had breakfast) was also good. Slow service, but the food was great. I have also eaten at Matsuri before and it is very good Japanese. I also got really good service from the front desk: there was a glitch with my online booking, and guys upgraded me (Penthouse E is on the east side of the building on the 12th floor: it is small, but the shower has a big round window with wonderful views across to the Emprie State Building: full of light in the morning and sparkling at night). The hotel location is great: it's close to the subway and in a good neighbourhood. I would definitely stay here again!

I love the location of this hotel. After not being able to get into some of the bars in the meatpacking district, my friends and I went to Lava Lounge (part of the Maritime hotel i assume) and it was awsome. I had a good time and there were plenty of good looking people, the chics were smoking hot but thats all of the meatpacking district.

I never stayed at this hotel but i have def been out to the bars that are literally right next to it. In that sense I dont know how quit it will be at night if you are the kind of person that likes to go to bed early.
