The Devils' goaltender heard his usual share of mocking chants and profanities in Monday night's 4-1 loss to the Rangers. Some of that had to do with a softie goal he gave up to Brandon Dubinsky in the first period.

It could have been worse for Brodeur, though.

At least his old nemesis, Sean Avery, wasn't around to pester him.

"It's kind of nice not to have him around all the time," Brodeur admitted.

Brodeur said a few days passed after Avery left the Rangers to sign with the Dallas Stars on July 2 before he heard the news.

"I didn't know for a while," he said. "Somebody came up to me and said, 'Do you know what happened?' I didn't even think twice about it."

Brodeur will see Avery soon enough. The Stars visit Prudential Center in eight days.

I cant wait to see the Devils wipe the ice with Sean Avery! I never wanted to beat the Dallas Stars so badly!

sean avery is a doush ... he shouldn't even be mentioned anymore!

Broduer and Avery get to face off tonite when the NJ Devils host the Dallas Stars ... I hope someone knocks Avery the **** out!
