Went to the show last night. Not a huge fan (I probably only really know 6-7 of their songs), but I liked them on the VFC tour. I'd say this show definitely wasn't for a casual fan, but I still enjoyed it. One of the issues that I had was that they have a very "busy" screen right behind the band and very active lighting, all of which I thought distracted from Michael's very commanding stage presense.

The few songs I knew were fun, and several one's I didn't know/the new songs I thought were very good. Particularly liked a song where the whole band crowded around a piano and Stipe just sang over the piano and acoustic guitars and a song where the bassist sang lead...not sure what either were called, sorry.

One thing that struck me as very funny was at one point Stipe said that they were going to do a song that they hadn't played, even in rehearsal, for 3 years. I laughed thinking about Bruce pulling out songs that the band hand't played in 20 years and very much doubt they rehearsed like the recent Summertime Blues or when the Detroit Medley appeared the first time on the Rising tour. There was also a guy going crazy dancing who was great to watch. He reminded me of Bernie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgWgDlxQn5E) to a lesser degree.

I did enjoy REM when I saw them on the VFC tour - I was tempted to see them in Philly, but I'm going down the shore this W/E with the girls - couldn't afford to do both
