Lets see how the Islanders face a competitive Tampa Bay team has been struggling on the road. Last night Tampa Bay lost to the Devils and would like to escape this road trip with some points. I am predicting the Islanders will have to play extra hard to win this one. So far in the first period the islanders and Tampa are scoreless.
Mike Sillinger was honored before the game for playing game number 1000. |

Bill Gurin scored the goal. The New York Islanders lead 1-0.

And right before that goal Rick Dipietro made an OUTSTANDING save. I think ricky may have picked up an assist on the goal as did mike sillinger in his milestone game.

dipietro did get the assist according to espn but it looked like he hit Hillbert in the face. Hopefully he is ok...what a whacky play!

Congrats to the New York Islander on the 4-0 win over Tampa Bay. Dipietro had an assist in the game and recorded his 12th career shutout. He was also the first star of the game due to his performance especially in the first period when the flury of shots were coming.
The New York Islanders win tonite combined with a Philly loss to montreal gives the Islanders a chance to tie for first in the division. The difference is the NY Islanders played only 10 games and are 6-4, while Philly played 11 games and are 7-4. |
