The New York Jets were home to take on the new look Pats. These two teams last met last year in the playoffs when the NY Jets were eliminated. If you are a Jets fan this had to of been a frustrating game to watch. They simply did not show up to perform at all. The defense never ever even came close to touching Tom Brady at all. Tom Brady (on a HOT & HUMID day) didnt even break a swet. He just stood tall in the pocket and was nearly perfect on all pass attempts and never felt the body heat of an opposing Jets defender.
The newly acquired Randy Moss recieved the football 9 times for 183 yards and a beautiful touchdown catch on a 40 yard something pass play from Tom Brady. The NY Jets special teams (which even had a BLOCKED FIELD GOAL) in the first half , gave away the opening kickoff in the second half for a 108 yard touchdown return by Hobbs of the Patriots, quickly erasing the the beautiful blocked FG. The NY Jets will play Baltimore next week and have one of the toughest schedules in all the NFL. Chad Pennington was injured on a sack but came back into the game limping. The newly acquired Thomas Jones did absolulty nothing. It doesnt look good this year for the NY Jets fan. |

Well maybe now its a little more clear as to why the NY Jets NEVER once got pressure on Tom Brady. Was Bill Belichek stealing signals from Jets Defensive coaches?? Knowing that BB is a very competitive person and hates losing I surely wouldnt be surprised by this at all. It seems crazy as I sat at Giants stadium and NOT ONCE saw any Jets defenders even come close to laying a finger on Tom Brady.
Even the ESPN analysts have stated how this cheating can allow Patriots linemen or Running backs to shift over to the blitzing side as to buy Tom Brady more time to throw the football or allow for a change of call/audibile. Clearly as a Jets fan I am not happy with the way we performed and I believe we deserved to lose that game. The Patriots on the other hand should be forced to forfeit the win or at the very least allow the Jets and Pats to share a tiebreaker. If I were a Pats fan I would not be too pleased with this because I truly believe the Pats would have won despite the cheating. To take away a draft pick from the Pats is ridiculous. I dont think that should be a form of punishment unless you take away all their draft picks. The NFL should come down hard on them for this. This is no different the steroid use in baseball where a team or player is giving themselves a competitive advantage. |
