Default 5pointz Graffiti Long Island City

A landmark visible from the 7 train windows going into Queens 5pointz is a unique space dedicated to the appreciation and encouragement of the art of graffiti. Most of the exteriors of this converted warehouse are covered in the colorful murals and tags of talented graffiti artists from all over the world, and director Jan Meres has plans to convert the interiors into galleries and studios for asporing and seasoned painters alike.

If you'd like to do some painting yourself you can apply online for a lisence, or you can just go and walk around the building (including the ROOF !!) with spectacular views of Manhattan to see the work on display.

Wow thats def not the regular everyday CRAPPY graffiti you see .... that is more like art. Usually you hear the word graffiti and there is that negative conotation. But this is actually really good. Where is this located exactly??

Its located in Queens on Jackson Avenue at Crane Street and Davis Street. If you want to take the subway take the E or V to 23rd street - Ely Avenue; 7 to 45 Road Court House Square; G to Long Island City - Court Square.

here is another great piece of artwork...

and keep in mind I do not have a lisence and hence was not aloud inside the building (well I was but I couldnt take pics). Just to give people an idea as to what this is like.....Its as if the entire block has an abandoned industrial building whose exteriors are graffitied to NO end.

The interior is private and for people that either have a lisence or know someone who works there. I was aloud inside the building but they told me I was NOT allowed to use my camera to take pictures. They did have an amazing graffiti of a Santa Clause inside the building. I thought it was one of the nicest pieces or artwork there.

And as you walk around under the train tracks there is like a docking station into the building where you can walk up stairs on the exterior of the building to get amazing views of the city as I mentioned earlier. Be careful, I was really really scared walking up those stairs THEY GO WAY UP AND VERY HIGH and THEY ARE VERY VERY NARROW and I didnt think they were soo sturdy!!

And here are the NARROW steps I am talking about. And by the way I have been here a couple times and I have met tourists from all over the world that come here to see the Graffiti on display. Believe it or not there are PLENTY of New Yorkers that have never been here either. Check out these steps....

Sorry you are gonna have to kind of turn your head to see this picture the right way. Sorry!!

Here is maybe a better picture of the narrow stairs i was talking about, in respect the the building ... Take a look ....Oh and there is also supposedly a site 5pointz.com or 5ptz.com but I dont think either are working. I will add a link to any information I found out about the Graffiti Artwork.

Yea seriously, those are some cool shots....I live in manhattan and have never gone out to Long Island City to see this yet....but on a nice boring Sunday afternoon I could see myself possibly planning a trip out there to take a peek. This is some seriously nice underground artwork that most tourists I WOULD THINK, DO NOT SEE!! Thanks for the info and the pics Man!
